KDCD Africa owned by Elzan Smith produces woman's and kids clothing. They are currently focused in the South African region supplying boutiques with quality designs. KDCD has the clothing brand side as well as a manufacturing aspect where they CMT for other clients, eliminating the need for them to manufacture in other countries like China. KDCD was born out of adversity when Elzan Smith had just got out of an abusive marriage and she was left with nothing but her 12 years in the beauty industry. She moved back home with her daughter and started making clothes for her little girl cause she didn't have enough money to buy any.
People started noticing the clothes she made as her daughter wore them to school. She then saw the opportunity to start something new, to make and sell kids clothes. She started off at her mother's house with only herself and two sewing machines.Elzan first heard about Seda while she was attending the Serta/Certa Expo, where Seda exhibiting. After diagnosing few challenges her business faced, Seda assisted her with the development of a business plan and website. Seda also improved the business' access to markets by exposing it to exhibitions and fashions shows, namely the manufacturing indaba as well as the Torino Fashion Week in Italy.
KDCD now supplies the 12 Apostles in Cape Town with resort wear and swimwear. They also supply a shop at O.R Tambo called Crazy About Kids with baby clothes and they also manufacture curtains for a shop in their locale of Carltonville.
